Create the Pattern! click here for a black and white printable version. Mandalas are Hindu in origin but used sometimes in Buddhism. It’s a Sanskrit word for circle, community, and connection. Today mandala is a general term for a geometric pattern that’s symbolic of the microcosm or cosmos, inner or outer worlds. Mandalas draw the eye toward the center and help focus the mind during meditation. The Elodrym symbol can be used as a mandala and created in many different ways. We would like to see your versions of The Elodrym symbol. It could be drawn, painted, sculpted, etched in snow, or crafted in the forest. It’s up to you. Tell us about your experience creating it and where you were. Even whole groups can give it a try. Please be respectful of any natural surrounds you work in and don’t graffiti the symbol on private property. Pictures and scanned art show up best online as high resolution jpeg or png. Please include your name, and the name of the people or organization involved so we can give you credit. The pictures will rotate on the front page, elsewhere on the site, or in Elodrym publications. Send your letter and picture to: The following images are either pictures taken from the locations of Elodrym events, or pictures of the pattern. |
